This statement describes what you can expect from us regarding
personal data on WallFly.com, and your associated rights and responsibilities.
This statement is a part of the WallFly User Agreement but trumps
any conflicts with the agreement. This statement does not address
anyone else's practices or our practices beyond the WallFly.com
site.
WallFly Protects
Your Privacy - WallFly does NOT sell or in any way distribute
personal information about our users, including names, emails
etc., to third parties or anyone under any circumstances.
Cookies are
data snippets that websites store on your computer's hard drive.
Our site uses a safer version of cookies called
"session cookies". A session cookie is stored on the server and
not on the user's computer. This cookie will store your login
status, preferences, and so on. The cookie session is ended on
the server when you close your browser. Only when you login or
register and until you logout do we still need a tiny cookie on
your computer to store the "identity number" of your personal
cookie on the server. This identifies your cookie on the server
so that it can display the correct settings and information to
you as a logged in user.
Information we store in a cookie placed on your
computer, if you should login or register, includes your registered
email address (username) and you login status. We do not
use this cookie to track your activity or to collect any information
about you.
Information we store in a session cookie on our
server, if you have cookies enabled, includes your site preferences
such as how many items you would like displayed on page. If you
are logged in we add your last time of activity, your registered
email address (username), and your login status.
For security purposes, if you are logged in to the
WallFly.com site and your session has been inactive for 30 minutes
or more, we remove your registered email address (username) and
your login status from our server's session cookie automatically.
However, the session cookie placed on the server will retain your
preferences until you close your browser. If you should resume
activity on our site after this time, you will be given an option
to login again or continue without logging in, either way your
preferences will be saved for you until you close your browser.
WallFly does not, at this time, allow any third
party to set a cookie on your computer through the use of our
site. An example of a third party would be advertisers on
our site.
You can configure most web browsers to reject cookies
or notify you when cookies are placed. If you're not registered,
rejecting cookies won't noticeably affect your experience on WallFly.com.
You must accept cookies to access WallFly.com as a registered
user.
IP Addresses, URL's,
and, Browser Types. Without the use of a cookie on your
computer, we are able to obtain your IP address, referring URL,
and browser type.
Your access provider assigns an IP address to your
computer when you use the Internet. We log each IP address that
accesses the site, browser type, and referring/destination URL's.
We use this data, as well as other data in our databases, to analyze
site and user behavior, troubleshoot technical problems, resolve
disputes, address complaints and prepare aggregated reports that
we may share with others.
Content and Ratings.
If you are registered, you can publish reviews on the WallFly.com
site. As an unregistered visitor, you may browse all of our site's
contents as well as use the email a friend and review notification
subscription features.
Your reviews are displayed publicly. Your review
name is automatically displayed with reviews that you publish,
and if other members choose to, they can receive email notifications
of your publications and request to see all reviews published
under your review name.
We, and our licensees, can republish your content
as described in the user agreement. We publish ratings and use
them to develop aggregate ratings, reporting, and so on.
WallFly does not sell or distribute any part of
your registration information. Your password is protected
and will always remain confidential. We use your registration
information for many purposes, including internal reporting and
to email you.
Email Tools.
If you send emails through our site, your email will include your
email address and any personal message you include. However, these
emails aren't private communications. We do not retain, in any
easily-retrievable way, the addresses you are emailing. You may
not use these tools to send spam or content that violates the
user agreement.
Feedback.
We may ask for your feedback through a survey, which we treat
like other business records.
Other Data Collection.
We may get data from or about you in other ways not specifically
described in this statement. For example, you might contact us,
or we may get a third party complaint about you. We handle this
data like other business records. However, if we tell you elsewhere
that specific data is governed by rules that supplement or contradict
this statement, those rules trump this statement.
Data Changes. If
you terminate/edit your account or delete/change your data or
content, we update our live databases immediately. If you should
terminate your account, any posted reviews from you on our site
will remain on our site and your review name cannot be reused
by another member so long as you have posted reviews remaining
on our site. If you should later re-register using the same
email address (username) from your terminated account, any reviews
you posted with your terminated account that remain will be recaptured
with your new account. If you should edit your account and
have posted reviews on our site, these reviews will stay with
you under your new account information. If you should edit your
review name, any posted reviews you have on our site will be updated
to reflect your new review name.
Contractors/Service
Providers. We may use third party service providers
or contractors who can access our databases and who may obtain
some of your personal data. Usually these third parties sign a
standard confidentiality agreement.
We may share data with any parent company, subsidiaries,
and other companies under a common control or acquirers. We expect
these other companies will honor this statement. Also, we may
allow a potential acquirer or merger partner to review our databases,
although we would restrict their use and disclosure of this data
during the diligence phase.
Government Relations
and Lawsuits. We may disclose data about you to the
government if we are required to do so or if we think the disclosure
is appropriate, and you authorize these disclosures. We may also
disclose data about you in connection with actual or potential
lawsuits (a) if we are required to do so, (b) if such disclosures
may potentially mitigate our liability, or (c) to enforce our
rights.
Communicating
with Other Users. You may not harvest personal data
from the site, and specifically you may not use data displayed
on the site to ask users to join or contribute to your services.
Limits on Our
Abilities. Our site is very complex, so we might inadvertently
use or disclose your data in ways inconsistent with this statement.
For example, a temporary software glitch could lead to public
display of your personal data despite your preferences otherwise.
We might also make ad hoc uses of your data in ways not mentioned
here. In these anomalous situations, your sole remedy is that
we will try to rectify the anomaly as soon as we can.
Security.
We use industry-standard security protocols, such as (if and where
appropriate) firewalls and restrictions on which employees can
access user data. However, perfect security does not exist on
the Internet. Also, in theory third parties can intercept Internet
transmissions containing your personal data, and we don't control
the privacy/security of transmissions to and from the site while
in transit.
There are security measures you may take on your
own behalf, they include but are not limited to:
- Do not share your account information with anyone
and store your account information in a safe place.
- When creating an account on our site or any site,
choose a password that cannot be easily guessed by another party.
- When creating an account on our site or any site,
you may opt to use an email address established through an internet
email account such as Yahoo or Hotmail rather than your own
personal email account.
- Disable the use of cookies in your browser's
settings and in your browser's settings specify only the sites
you will permit to place cookies on your computer.
- When creating an account on our site, if you
choose to preserve your anonymity, do not use your full name
as your review name. Use only part of your full name or choose
a nickname.
Notification of Changes
This policy may be revised over time as new features are added
to the Web site. We will post our new privacy policy, along with
the date of its last revision, prominently so that you will always
know what information we gather, how we use that information,
and whether we will disclose it to anyone. Please check this Web
page for information about revisions to our privacy policy.
